Why propellers need their own clean
Fouling on a propeller costs more per square centimetre than anywhere else on the boat. Even a light layer of slime on the blades disturbs the water flow they're machined to grip, and the effect shows up immediately: higher revs for the same speed, more vibration, and more fuel burned. Barnacles on running gear can also mask corrosion and wear that you'd want to catch early.
Propellers, shafts, and thruster tunnels are precision surfaces with anodes, seals, and sensors nearby — exactly where you don't want rotating brushes. So this part of the job is done the traditional way: by a person, by hand.
What the diver covers
- Propeller blades and hub — polished free of slime and growth
- Shafts and brackets — cleaned and visually inspected
- Rudders and trim tabs — cleaned on both faces
- Bow and stern thrusters — tunnels cleared of growth
- Anodes — condition checked and reported
After every dive you receive an underwater photo report, so you can see the condition of your running gear without getting wet.
Free with the annual package
A propeller clean is included free with every annual hull cleaning package (four robotic cleans for the price of three). It can also be booked as a standalone service or added to a single hull clean — ask for a combined quote.
One visit, whole boat
Booked together with a robotic hull clean, the diver works while the drone runs its passes. Your entire underwater profile — hull, propeller, and running gear — is done in a single visit, with one report covering everything.
